SLAB TECHNIQUE

Hand building is the earliest forming method and was developed before the potter’s wheel. Slab ware is normally surprisingly well shaped, so one can think, that they are wheel made. But if the wheel vessels are round-shaped always, hand building enables unlimited creation.
Slab technique is very similar to tailoring. Often slabs are rolled out by Kitchen pin. Then slides are cut out from slabs. Next - slides are slip (soft water base clay mixture) assembled with each other to form the planned ware. This technique is equally good for simple pieces as well as sophisticated sculpture objects.
