GENNADY DVORKIN
CERAMICS FIRED IN THE HEART OF TEL AVIV

Gennady Dvorkin (b. 1959 Tolyatti, Russia) is a self-taught ceramic artist. Upon relocating to Israel in 1990 he spent five years studying and working in Jerusalem; experimenting with materials such as clay, stone and wood. Gravitating mostly towards clay, he then embarked on ten years of self discovery, mastering the world of ceramic arts. Gennady’s practice is influenced by the power of the natural elements, creating both sculptural and functional pieces. Utilizing most ceramic techniques from pinching to throwing, his work involves both Raku and Wood Firing which not only relates to the elemental nature of the actual processes but enables him to reach his final desired decorative design.
In 2014 Gennady opened his own pottery studio, in Jaffa, Israel where he not only lives and works but teaches a variety of ceramic techniques to a myriad of students and provides studio access to fellow ceramic artists and potters. Additionally, the studio serves as a gallery where his current work, together with archive pieces, are on display to the public.
Aside from participating in exhibitions, his pieces feature in a number of international private art collections.
